Dusk

As I stare at the evening sun

Glowing crimson and pink and gold

My soul is flooded with strength.

Liquid rays surge through my veins,

Like fire and rich broth

At the same time.

In this moment,

I’m emboldened as I realize that

Hope is on the horizon.

And the end of today

Means the dawn of tomorrow.

Story behind the poem: This is another poem I wrote in January for the Bluegrass Accolade. Although I wouldn't consider it some of my best or most profound work, there's something uplifting about the notion that when one day ends, another begins. In other words, the end of one season marks the start of another. We can either be people who are constantly living in the past and grieving over the day that's ending, or people who are gazing expectantly toward "the dawn of tomorrow". I don't know about you, but I want to be the latter.

As usual, here are a couple of verses that I feel fit this theme:

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."

- Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)

"Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?"

- Isaiah 43:19 (ESV)

Be blessed this week, friend, and remember that "hope is on the horizon"! :)
