Lamplight
You're the soft, golden lamplight
Flooding my room,
At the close of a day
That's left me confused.
You're the breeze in my hair
On a still, ocean shore,
That helps me believe
There are bright things in store.
You're a friend's gentle smile
In the midst of the pain,
That fans hope's dying ember
Into a flame.
You're the black and white house
At the end of the road,
Because wherever You are
Feels like home.
I love songs where the artist reflects on who Jesus is to them and how they experience Him through everyday things. I'm no songwriter, but I wanted to create a similar piece. I have mixed feelings about this poem - I usually try to avoid rhyming because I worry it might come off as cliché. However, I felt a lot of joy and peace as I was writing this. I pray that these words would encourage you as well.
Hope you have a wonderful rest of your week!
"The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning."
- Lamentations 3:22-23 (NLT)
