This Moment

This Moment

I wouldn't have chosen this.

But here I am -

Encircled by love,

Centered in peace,

Shivering with joy.

This moment is a tender gift,

A gift I might have missed

Had my dreams unfolded

According to plan.

How sweet it is to tumble

Into an unexpected blessing,

A blessing tucked there

By the hands of a caring Father.

I'm so grateful for the missteps,

For the tears, for everything.

Because it all led to this sacred space.

I've been thinking a lot lately about how grateful I am for the unexpected moments in life. I'm not where I thought I'd be five years ago, and that's a beautiful thing. Sometimes I've felt frustrated, even angry, because things didn't work out how I'd hoped. But right now, I'm thankful for today and the faithfulness of Jesus. He knows just what we need. Even the darkest times in our lives often yield precious memories.
